A man has admitted getting behind the wheel of a car while more than four times the alcohol limit.
Paul Milne, 43, was found slumped in his parked car with a bottle of Buckfast and vodka on Clepington Road on July 1 this year.
He admitted being in charge of the vehicle after having 103 mics of alcohol in 100mls of breath, exceeding the limit of 22 mics.
Dundee Sheriff Court heard that the police were alerted to Milne by two delivery drivers who were concerned about his appearance while within the vehicle.
Fiscal depute Charmaine Gilmartin told Sheriff Alastair Brown: “Two takeaway drivers saw the accused’s vehicle parked on Clepington Road and they thought they had seen alcohol within the car.
“They brought it to the attention of police officers who attended five minutes later who traced him within the car.
“His head was slumped forward and the keys were in the ignition.
“They could see an open bottle of Buckfast and a bottle of vodka in the car.
“He smelled strongly of alcohol and was unsteady on his feet.”
Milne failed a roadside breath test and later provided the reading at police headquarters.
Solicitor Kevin Hampton said Milne, formerly of Strathmartine Road but now residing at Jericho House on Artillery Lane, had struggled with alcoholism and was taking active steps to tackle his drinking.
He said: “There’s a long-standing alcohol problem which he now seems to be tackling and is doing quite well.
“He got to the stage where he realised he was out of control.
“He has taken the steps to move into Jericho House and that is where he is residing at the moment.”
Sentence was deferred on Milne until November 21 in order to gather criminal justice social work reports.
He was additionally disqualified from driving in the interim.
