The weekend will be mostly dry with some frost expected in the evenings.

A frosty few days with rain and snow showers is on the cards for the Easter weekend in Tayside, dashing hopes for a warm holiday period.

Despite last Saturday being the hottest April day in two years, top temperatures this weekend will hover around a cool 11C, plunging to 4C in the mornings and evenings.

Low areas including Dundee will be mostly dry with sunny spells, whereas hilly Perthshire will see a flurry of snow.

Matt Roe, duty forecaster for the Met Office, said: “Many places across Angus and Fife will be dry with some sunshine on Saturday, but there will be a snow shower over the hills in Perthshire.

“There will be a cold wind pretty much everywhere.

“In the evening there will be a touch of frost, with some rain first thing tomorrow morning.

“After that it should become dry again with some sunshine in the afternoon – but it will be on the cold side.

“Top temperatures will be around 10 or 11C and there will be some frost.

“There will be little change on Monday. It looks like most of the region will have cold northerly winds and another snow shower across the Perthshire hills.

“It is going to be a fairly typical spring week, with changeable weather and cool temperatures.”

The rest of the week is forecast to be mainly cloudy, with top temperatures of 12C and light gusts of wind.
