Dundee City Council chief executive David Martin was one of the highest paid council employees in Scotland last year, earning a total of £172,416.
Mr Martin’s pay includes a basic salary of £147,557, plus other benefits, taking the total remuneration package to £172,642.
The prime minister earns £150,402 a year, while First Minister Nicola Sturgeon received £151,721 in 2017-18.
The bumper deals for senior staff at local authorities were revealed today by the Taxpayers’ Alliance, who criticised “staggering” pay-outs, while public services continue to be slashed.
But where did other local authority’s in Courier country come in the list?
Steve Grimmond, the chief executive of Fife Council, one of the country’s largest local authorities, was the 15th highest paid in Scotland of 210 council workers listed, with his £149,646 salary taking up the majority of his £196,982 package.
Mr Martin was placed 27th on the list.
In 49th place, Angus Council chief executive Margo Williamson’s £128,218 annual pay is part of her £148,665 remuneration.
Seven Angus council staff received more than £100,000 in 2017-18, the group’s latest figures show.
Five council staff in Dundee earned more than £100,000.
