An East Neuk entrepreneur battled the elements on Friday to help snowed in residents enjoy a “wee dram”.
Douglas Clement, the founder of Kingsbarns Distillery who is also a Fife Ambassador, travelled through snow drifts and sub zero termperatures to help open The Haven Bar and Restaurant in Cellardyke – and visitors were rewarded with a morale boosting whisky!
Douglas, who is also an ambassador for Colorado Construction, told The Courier: “I’m helping haven owners Wendy and Trevor Gow get the Haven open for midday.
“We’ve been to Co-op for provisions but no milk anywhere in the town.
“I believe Anstruther is completely cut off.
“The good news is we have plenty of fish as Doig fish merchants is just above the Haven .“I am heading to Haven now with some of my whisky collection to offer folk a wee complimentary dram on arrival.”
The gesture was available on Friday to any of the Haven’s visitors. Open lunch 12 to 2.30pm and dinner 5.30-8.30pm – then quiz after that!
That’s the spirit! Cut-off East Neuk residents rewarded with a complimentary ‘wee dram’ from distillery founder
