The Queen is too ill to attend a Christmas Day church service, Buckingham Palace has said.
Senior members of the Royal Family, including the Duke of Edinburgh, will attend the service at St Mary Magdalene Chruch on Sandringham estate.
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh had to postpone the first day of their Christmas retreat to Sandringham earlier in the month, due to “heavy colds”.
It is understood Her Majesty is still suffering the effects of a heavy cold, and this is the first time she has missed a Christmas Day church service since 1988.
