Dunfermline are a threat says Dundee United gaffer

His team are aiming for five Championship wins in a row, while the opposition haven’t won in their last five league outings.

But Dundee United boss Ray McKinnon has warned Dunfermline will be dangerous opponents at Tannadice tonight.

Last time the sides met, at East End Park, goalie Cammy Bell was the hero when he chalked up a world record hat-trick of first-half penalty saves.

And Ray has used that to highlight the attacking threat the Pars will carry.

“Cammy was unbeliev-able that day but what it showed was Dunfermline were a threat and got into our box,” he said.

“As well as winning those penalties, they had a few more chances.

“That shows they are a dangerous team.

“We’re aware of that but we are also going well just now and we’ve built a bit of momentum.

“We want to keep it going and we know we’ll have to play well and work hard.”

United have confirmed they will be without full-back Paul Dixon for tonight and a while to come.

He damaged knee ligaments at Queen of the South on Saturday and it looks like being six weeks before he will even restart training.

“We’re gutted for Dicker because I think he’s been doing great.

“He’s been winning his tackles and headers and getting forward.

“Before he got injured on Saturday, he put in a great ball for the second goal and that’s what he’s been doing.”

Bell also came off at the weekend and will have a late check on a calf strain.

Lewis Toshney is in the squad but his return from injury is more like to come when the teams match up in the Irn Bru Cup on Saturday.
