Members of what could be Dundee’s largest family attended church for a special service.

Full-time mother Emma Hann (41) and her husband Roy, a nurse practitioner at Ninewells Hospital, made the short journey from their home on Buttar’s Loan across the street to their place of worship.

The couple, who have been married for 21 years and are practising Mormons, have 10 girls and two boys, ranging in age from baby Posy born in March up to 19-year-old Rachel.

As an important part of their faith, the family took part in a baby blessing ceremony, which officially names the child as well as providing an opportunity to give a blessing for their spiritual and physical welfare.

“It was a lovely ceremony and everything went well,” said Mrs Hann.

“As far as I am aware we are the biggest family in Dundee, we were contacted by one woman who had nine but have not heard of anymore.

“We would love to hear from anyone who has a larger family.”

Having such a large family has attracted a fair bit of media interest according to Mrs Hann.

“We have had national newspapers wanting to speak with us and even magazines,” she said. “But I have handed all the requests over to my brother to go through.”
