Scotland’s newest amateur cycling event has helped raise £1500 for the Children’s Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS).
Paul Zarb from Kinross Cycling Club, organisers of the Sportive Kinross, visited the CHAS fund-raising office in the town yesterday to present the money.
It has been raised through registrations and donations for the event, which takes place on April 23.
Mr Zarb said, “We’re thrilled with the response to the event and, though it’s just in its first year, registrations are completely sold out.
“I’m delighted to be handing over the first of two payments to CHAS as we’ll have more money to donate in April when we have collated the balance of the entry fees.”
CHAS fund-raising manager Jon Heggie was delighted to accept the donation.
“It’s fantastic to be benefiting from a local event that has really been taken to the hearts of the cycling community across the UK,” he said.
“All the money raised for CHAS will benefit children across Scotland, including families who visit the Rachel House Children’s Hospice in Kinross.”
