In the Tummel arena at Blair Castle, the fierce working hunter pony competition reached a climax when the first and second prize-winning ponies from the highest height class progressed to take the championship honours.
Ultimately, the overall win went to Sophie Lamont, riding Fiona Lamont’s nine-year-old Connemara gelding Killags Sweet Cloud.
The multi-talented partnership, which represent the Lanark and Renfrewshire branch of the Pony Club, qualified for the novice challenge at Cheshire across the disciplines of dressage, showjumping and horse trials.
Killags Sweet Cloud, sired by Ashfield Festy and out of Sweet Dream, also competes at British Eventing to BE90 level, recently finishing double clear and sixth at Auchinleck.
Standing second in this class and taking the reserve were Charlotte Dun and Barralands Boy.
The 11-year-old part-bred Connemara gelding, by Broden Park Finnard, has only been lightly shown this season as Charlotte fractured and dislocated her shoulder point-to-point racing in April.
They came to Blair having stood champion at the Border Union.
