Angus schools have made significant progress in implementing the Curriculum for Excellence, councillors have been told.
The authority’s education committee considered a progress report in which officials said school staff have worked to ensure the transition to the new curriculum is a smooth experience for pupils.
Committee convener Peter Nield said: ”Angus schools are continuing to respond well to the training, resources, networking opportunity and practical advice provided by the education authority in delivering the ambitions of a curriculum for excellence.
”Opportunities are actively sought to seek the views and opinions of school staff, pupils and parents about changes to the curriculum.
”This partnership approach to taking forward the reform of the curriculum will continue to be an integral feature of our commitment to improve outcomes for Angus children and young people,” he added.
The committee also heard that a new document has been produced by the council to provide advice to schools in designing their curriculum.
The curriculum review and design policy was drafted in consultation with school staff and parent councils.
Mr Nield said: ”This statement will assist schools in developing the skills and knowledge of staff to ensure the effective implementation of Curriculum for Excellence.
