A teacher has been suspended and a 17-year-old boy has been reported to the procurator fiscal in separate incidents at Monifieth High School.
The pupil was reported following an incident last week in which he was involved in a confrontation with another pupil in a sixth year class.
The teacher was suspended this week, but Angus Council has refused to divulge the circumstances of the staff member being made to stay away.
A Tayside Police spokeswoman confirmed officers were called to the school last Thursday.
”Tayside Police did receive a call to an incident at an Angus school on November 3 at around 4.20pm,” she said. ”As a result of inquiries a 17-year-old has been reported to the procurator fiscal.”
An Angus Council spokeswoman confirmed police have been called to the school on more than one occasion in the past fortnight.
She said: ”Tayside Police attended Monifieth High School last week following an incident involving two pupils. Prior to that the police were invited to the school following an incident when the fire alarm was inappropriately activated by pupils. Each incident was dealt with swiftly and appropriately by the school.
”With regard to the incident last week, other than to confirm that a pupil has been excluded, the council is unable to make further comment as the matter is now in the hands of the police.
”The pupil involved in the fire alarm incident was also excluded,” she added.
The Courier asked the council to outline the reason for the teacher’s suspension but the spokeswoman would only confirm that a member of staff was suspended this week.
