A police campaign against violence and anti-social behaviour has been launched across Angus.
Project Ajax will see police officers, supported by specialist colleagues, targeting violent individuals who are wanted on warrant. They will also be clamping down on violent and anti-social behaviour through high-visibility patrols in problem areas.
Area commander Chief Inspector Gordon Milne said: “There is a very small minority out there who do get involved in violence, who get into fights, who drink too much alcohol, and who are involved in incidents of domestic abuse, as well as those who use violence when stealing other people’s property.
“In the run-up to the festive season, I want to concentrate our efforts on this group of selfish individuals and stop the violence before it starts.
Mr Milne said offenders can expect officers to use all means at their disposal to tackle their behaviour.
He said: “Over the coming weeks, warrants will be executed on a daily basis.
“Focused police patrols will be where we know violence and anti-social behaviour is taking place.
“In fact, we will be utilising the traditional style of policing, as well as trying some new ideas as well.
“I will not tolerate violence in any shape or form.
“We will reduce this type of behaviour as much as we possibly can during this important initiative.”
