An enraged boyfriend who kicked his partner in the face after accusing her of being unfaithful at T in the Park has been ordered to pay her compensation.
The bust-up began by text, but when the girl travelled from Dundee to Forfar in the very early hours she discovered some of her clothes on the doorstep of Jamie Mutch’s home.
After she was allowed in, the 22-year-old flew at her.
Mutch, of Benholm Gardens, Forfar, admitted behaving in a threatening manner at his home on September 1, sending an abusive text to the woman, repeatedly shouting and assaulting her by kicking her on the face to her injury.
Forfar Sheriff Court heard the pair had been in a relationship since December last year, but on the night of the offence the woman was out with friends in Dundee when she received a text from Mutch alleging that she had been “pulling lots of people at T”, in reference to alleged behaviour at the popular summer music festival.
He told the girl: “You’ll never hear from me again”.
She immediately tried to text him back to reassure him that his suspicions were unfounded, but could not make contact with him.
The girl then travelled to Forfar at around 4am and saw that her clothes had been put in bin liners at the front door.
Although she did not stay with the accused she had some clothes at his home, the court heard.
Mutch’s mother heard the complainer crying and let her into the living room where an argument between the couple broke out.
The court heard the mum tried to intervene but Mutch rushed past her and kicked his girlfriend in the face, causing her to start bleeding.
She then locked herself in the bathroom, but the accused continued to repeatedly swear and punch the door.
Mutch’s lawyer said the accused “deeply regretted” the incident, which was alcohol-fuelled.
Sheriff Kevin Veal imposed a 12-month community payback order, including a supervision condition and a requirement to complete 80 hours of unpaid work.
He also ordered Mutch to pay £150 compensation to his victim.
