Arbroath Sheriff Court.
An Angus man has been given a final warning after admitting an assault charge against his partner.
Gordon Whyte, 43, of Glenogil Drive, Arbroath, appeared at the town’s sheriff court on Monday where his sentence was deferred for six months to be of good behaviour.
The court heard how Whyte and his partner had been drinking with a friend in the Millgate bar on Saturday and had gone back to the friend’s home after the pub closed.
Fiscal Jill Drummond said the group continued to drink into the small hours, with Whyte returning to his partner’s property nearby intermittently.
At around 6am, Whyte came back into the property and saw his partner and the friend embracing and flipped. He grabbed his partner by the shirt and dragged her to the floor, then to the door and kicked at her.
The police were contacted and Whyte was later traced at around 9.20am after going home. Sheriff Gregor Murray said there was “no excuse” for the behaviour but understood how the situation arose.
He deferred sentence until July 10.
