A Christmas Day row saw a drink-driver pulled over by police because his windscreen had frosted over, a court has heard.
Angus roads officers waved David Davies down after he had only driven a few streets, following an argument with his partner.
The 32-year-old appeared at Forfar Sheriff Court on Tuesday and admitted driving while more than three times over the legal limit in Forfar last year.
Depute fiscal Hannah Kennedy said: “On the 25th of December at 10.25pm, traffic officers saw the accused driving in Forfar.
“They stopped his vehicle due to the amount of frost on his windscreen. It was then they could smell alcohol.”
Solicitor Norman Bruce said his client works as a mechanical technician in the offshore industry.
He added: “He was in a relationship and was living with his partner in Forfar. They had an argument and he was asked to leave the house and take his belongings. He went to his mother’s house, who only stays a few streets away.”
Sheriff Gregor Murray fined Davies £500, and he was disqualified from driving for 20 months.
Davies, of Swansea, admitted having 70 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, where the legal limit is 22 mics.
