Angus South MSP Graeme Dey has described the decision to slash military jobs at RM Condor in Arbroath as “deeply regrettable”.
A redundancy letter has been sent to 20 military personnel in a variety of roles at RM Condor.
Another 30 employees at RAF Leuchars have received the same news, with a further 20 to be axed in a second tranche of lay-offs.
Mr Dey said: “Unfortunately, the cuts are entirely in keeping with the direction of travel when it comes to the movement of military personnel under the MoD’s plans.
“Regular army numbers in Scotland are down to a little over 3,000 under Westminster rule and there is no sign of this improving.
“MoD figures show that of the 1,672 people who will be employed in their defence business services by next year, only 13 will be based north of the border.”
The UK Government’s long-term plan is to reduce the number of regular soldiers from 102,000 to 82,000.
The Scottish Government has said all service personnel should have a reassurance of never being faced with compulsory redundancy during their service contract.
