A rootin’ tootin’ Angus celebration of US culture has been saved at high noon.
Organisers of the first Scotland’s Americana near Forfar were heart- broken when torrential rain meant they had to pull the plug on the July 4 event.
And a second attempt to host the horse and muscle car extravaganza on August 9 almost met the same fate due to a season that “isn’t playing ball”.
Jessica Probst of the charity Saddle Up! Ranch said the Padanaram field intended for the event will likely remain waterlogged due to the wet summer.
But the Forfar Mart has stepped in to offer the use of its Strathmore Hall venue, which means the show will go on.
And a preview night of entertainment has also been added for those who have already bought tickets.
Jessica said: “Strathmore Hall have stepped in and saved the day and we are due them a big thank you.
“We have a number of people who bought tickets already and we are holding a Saturday evening event which is just for them. And there will be a public event on the Sunday all day.
“The Scottish summer just isn’t playing ball. Lots of local shows have had to be cancelled and we don’t want to leave the event exposed to a gamble on weather and have to go through another cancellation.”
The pre-show party from 4pm next Saturday is for exhibitors, trade, marshals and pre-paid public tickets.
The show opens to the public next Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
Live music will be provided by Norman Borland, Hot Rod Sinners and Suzy Maynard, with an array of line dancers, American footballers, burlesque dancers, plus American classic and custom cars to see, as well as horseriding demonstrations.
Saddle Up! Ranch rescues and rehabilitates horses, encourages and promotes western horsemanship, with training from the ground up.
