Commonwealth Games sponsorship sought for Angus towns

Visitors to Angus during the Commonwealth Games could be met with sponsored approaches to the county’s towns.

The local authority has awarded the contract for sponsorship of 13 gateway sites to Community Partners Ltd. Last March it was agreed council officers would look at sprucing up entry sites, such as roundabouts.

A meeting in November 2011 heard a deputation from Bill Bowles of the Carnoustie Development Group on the subject of advertising rights or sponsorship opportunities at council-owned town and village gateway locations.

It was decided to engage a specialist partner to market the opportunity to sponsor gateways, and Community Partners will manage this on behalf of the council for the next two years.

The council said the new venture offers companies the opportunity to sponsor signs at a number of prominent sites in Angus.

The contract covers the period of the Commonwealth Games event at Barry Buddon and a number of other significant visitor events in Angus.

Community Partners managing director Mike Brennan said: “We are delighted to be working with Angus.

“As part of AdGroup, we have been working in Scotland for over 20 years selling bus, ferry and airport advertising, and believe that this win compliments our other assets with airport partners such as Dundee Airport.”
