Buckshaw was fined £200 at Arbroath Sheriff Court.
An argument about the volume of a television volume caused a Montrose man to assault his partner, Arbroath Sheriff Court heard.
Kyle David Buckshaw (22) of India Lane, admitted on Saturday at Dorward Gardens, Montrose, he assaulted the woman by seizing her by the body and twisting her wrist, spitting on her and pushing her, causing her to fall.
Sheriff Peter Paterson fined Buckshaw £200. Depute fiscal Jill Drummond said the couple, who have an 11-month-old baby, had been at her home watching television when she decided to go to sleep.
“She asked the accused if he wanted to go to sleep but he said he wanted to continue to watch television,” Ms Drummond said. “She asked him to turn the television down and this led to an argument, during which the complainer pulled out the television plug.
“This led to the accused grabbing her left wrist and twisting it, spitting on her once and pulling her down to the ground. The complainer left the house and contacted the police.
“Officers found her to be upset but with no visible injuries.”
A defence agent for Buckshaw said the assault was out of character and noted that he had no previous convictions.
