The wives of some of the bravest men in Angus spread some Christmas spirit at the weekend.

Member of the RM Condor Military Wives Choir (MWC) were at Tesco in Arbroath, where they performed festive hits and songs they recorded for a national charity album.

All of the ladies are married to serving members of 45 Commando, who completed a tour of Afghanistan earlier in the year.

The choir was asked to sing on the MWC album Stronger Together this year.

It has been released in time for Christmas.

Spokeswoman Debbie Rogers said the group received a request to get involved in the national production, which took in 674 choir members from throughout the UK.

She said the singers were asked to provide backing harmonies to tracks on the album.

Recording specialists were sent to the church at Condor to lay down their sections of the tracks.

After a trip to London for the launch, the ladies are now officially affiliated with the UK’s MWC.

Stronger Together is written by musical director Gareth Malone and record producer Jon Cohen.

Debbie said she was in Tesco to buy the album when the customer services manager asked her to sing for shoppers.

Since the record hit the shelves the ladies have sung at a Remembrance Day service and a Trafalgar Day ceremony.

They are now looking forward to performing at the Officers’ Mess Ball.

Debbie said: “It has all gone really well today and people have been so generous by putting their money into the collection bucket.

“The MWC Foundation is such a worthwhile charity and the feedback we have had today from members of the public has been amazing.

“Most of the people in Arbroath weren’t aware of the MWC or even that we had a choir up at Condor so this is a great way to show them what we are doing.

“We really just want the town to get behind us.

“Unless you are a military wife, people don’t know anything about what we’re doing.”
