Dundee FC player Kyle Benedictus says he wants to “move on and concentrate on football” after he was admonished at the city’s sheriff court.
The 19-year-old had admitted punching Jamie Ross and Daryn Moran and shouting abuse at his former girlfriend, Hayley Macnamara, at a flat in Tannadice Street late on January 2.
The right-back’s defence lawyer Mike Creegan told Sheriff Tom Hughes on Thursday that Benedictus had completed a voluntary stint at Dundee’s youth development scheme Kick-It Kick-Off.
At a previous hearing the court heard Benedictus and Miss Macnamara had split up in the run-up to the new year and that on the night in question he had been trying to find her.
Benedictus, accompanied by another person, had gone to the door of the flat and pushed into the property.
He was described as going ”straight for Moran” who received several punches in the face causing a cut lip and swelling.
Mr Ross also received a punch causing a reddening of his face. Throughout, Benedictus was said to be shouting to his former girlfriend.
The player was fined by Dundee FC for his actions.
When he appeared before Sheriff Tom Hughes on Thursday, he was told he was admonished for completing voluntary work and being of good behaviour since the incident.
He said: ”I’m glad this chapter in my life is closed. I want to move on and concentrate on the football as I’m getting more games.”
Sheriff Hughes said: ”I deferred sentence for you to be of good behaviour and to do voluntary work and I have received a letter confirming that you have in fact done that.”
