‘Stab him, get him on the ground, kick his head in’ what woman shouted during Lochee knife attack

A Dundee pensioner has told how a ”wicked” woman urged a knife-wielding man to ”finish me off” as he lay on the ground bleeding.

Alan Flood (65), who battled bravely with the thug who jumped on him and demanded his wallet, said the woman was shouting: ”Stab him, get him on the ground, kick his head in.”

Former businessman Mr Flood said the man held what looked like a syringe at his throat as he walked past the former Tesco in Lochee’s Stack Leisure Park. When he refused to hand over his wallet, he was attacked and knocked to the ground.

”I told him to get lost,” he said. ”She was wicked. I didn’t see her then she just appeared. They must have been hiding.

”I was maybe stupid. I should have just handed over the money but I didn’t want them to get all my credit cards.

”I had an umbrella, it was raining and a howling gale, if I didn’t have that up I might have seen them. She was encouraging him, trying to egg him on.”

Despite his ordeal, Mr Flood said he wasn’t really frightened during the attack.

”He said he had a knife, held it to my throat and said he wanted my wallet,” he said. ”I suppose I should have been more worried but I just thought: ‘There’s no way he’s getting my wallet’.

”My hand was cut but maybe that was from rolling about on the ground. I looked at his hand and it wasn’t a big blade, it was more like a syringe.”

Mr Flood said he threw his wallet away, trying to get it into bushes so the robbers wouldn’t have it but the woman got it.

He said he chased after them and said they could keep the cash if he could have his wallet back. The woman took two £20 notes but left his wallet.

”I thought they would have been after the cards to sell them on,” he said.

They then left him lying in the street with his cut hand and a sore leg, although he didn’t require medical attention.

”But that woman wanted him to finish me off it was disgusting. She was really quite a bit of business. I wouldn’t mind her getting put away for this,” he said.

Mr Flood, who retired four years ago from his firm Sewing Machines Dundee Ltd, said he had just got off the bus to go to his favourite pub, Sandy’s, in Liff Road when the attack happened.

Police are appealing for information about the robbery on Methven Street at about 10pm on Tuesday.

The man is in his 30s, about 5ft 8in and of stocky build. The woman, is in her 30s, 5ft 4in and of medium build. She wore a long white coat and dark boots.

Police want anyone who knows who was responsible to contact 0300 111 2222. People can also contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
