A furious woman who grabbed a schoolchild by the throat and ordered another child to ”come here and punch” the teenager has been fined at Dundee Sheriff Court.

Paula Buchan flipped after a schoolgirl was said to have been targeted by another pupil at Morgan Academy.

The schoolgirl warned Buchan there was to be a fight at the school gates on November 3.

Buchan was parked outside the school when she saw a mob form and leapt from the car realising the girl was involved. The incident was captured on another pupil’s mobile phone.

Fiscal depute Emma Stewart told the court the footage showed the two pupils pulling each other’s hair before Buchan got involved.

Buchan (39), of Craighill Court, Dundee, pleaded guilty to assaulting the pupil and committing a breach of the peace on November 3 at Morgan Academy.

Defence solicitor George Donnelly said Buchan had previously spoken to the school about bullying but nothing had been done.

He claimed the day after the incident Buchan had phoned educational authorities about it but was allegedly told: ”Tell her to run.”

Mr Donnelly said the schoolgirl is ”very bright and well thought of”, adding: ”Matters had been raised with the school and they had been assured it was being dealt with.”

On the day of the incident Buchan saw a group assemble and became involved.

Mr Donnelly continued: ”She then went in to the school to pursue the complaint and was again told the school would deal with it.

”She phoned the education authority the next day and remarkably was told ‘tell her to run’. It was all over very quickly and built up out of frustration.”

Sheriff Derek Pyle fined Buchan £100.
