A Dundee councillor has contacted police to express his concern over a weekend fight near Sinderins which involved around 30 people and left a 51-year-old man requiring hospital treatment.
Police turned out in force, with “a ton” of police vehicles in attendance, along with three ambulances, onlookers said, after the fight spilled out from a house party in Shepherds Loan.
West End city councillor Fraser Macpherson says he and constituents in the area were very concerned about the fight.
He said he had been in touch with police regarding the matter, adding, “This is a matter of concern to residents, particularly as it took place in an area where such behaviour is extremely unusual.”
Three police vans, three squad cars and an ambulance all rushed to the scene following the violent incident shortly after midnight on Sunday.
It is understood some of those involved had been at a function in a nearby masonic hall, before moving on to the house party.
Trouble flared and a fight spilled into the street, to the horror of local residents.
Inspector David Scott said the top end of Perth Road would have been busy with revellers heading home from the pub when the disturbance took place.
He appealed to taxi drivers, residents and pub-goers to get in touch if they had information about what had happened.
The 51-year-old man who was hurt in the disturbance suffered a three-inch cut to the head. He was taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment but was later discharged.
Insp Scott said, “Officers are carrying out inquiries in the area and obviously we would like to hear from anybody that saw or heard anything or was in the vicinity at the time.”
Anyone who can help with inquiries can contact the police on 0300 1112222 or speak to any officer. Information can also be passed on anonymously via the Crimestoppers hotline on 0800 555111.
