Conman scams two elderly women out of hundreds of pounds in Broughty Ferry

A conman has targeted two elderly women in Broughty Ferry in a “despicable crime”.

Police are now hunting the criminal who befriended the two pensioners before robbing them of hundreds of pounds.

The female victims, aged 87 and 69, both let the man into his house after he gained their confidence.

The man is described as aged mid-thirties, five feet two inches tall and of stocky appearance.

Officers are appealing for anyone to come forward who may think that they have been a victim of this type of crime.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland, Tayside Division, said: “This is a despicable crime targeting elderly people in their own homes and we would urge anyone with any information that may be useful to contact Tayside Division on 101 or any police officer.

“Alternatively information can be passed anonymously via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
