A teenager stabbed a man twice during a drunken house party, a court heard.
Keiran Walker’s victim was left bleeding from two one inch-long wounds after the knife attack in Alloway Gardens, Dundee, in April.
Depute fiscal Eilidh Robertson said Walker and the complainer, Ross Mclaren, were known to each other but not friends and that Mr McLaren had attended the party with his girlfriend.
Ms Robertson said: “Around 11.30pm, various people were aware of a large-scale disturbance in the living room.
“During that disturbance the complainer, his girlfriend, the party host and another witness were all aware of the accused being in possession of a knife.
“The accused was shouting.”
She continued: “The complainer approached the accused and said: ‘What do you need knives for?’”
Walker had then grabbed Mr McLaren and stabbed him on his right arm and buttock.
Ms Robertson said: “The complainer pushed the accused away and ran out to the rear garden.
“He was bleeding significantly and realised he had been stabbed in the buttock.”
Walker ran away to waste ground still holding the knife and was later found by police “either asleep or pretending to be asleep”.
Sheriff Alastair Brown asked for the weapon to be shown in court, and noted it was a serrated kitchen knife with an eight-inch blade.
Walker, 19, a prisoner at Polmont, admitted assaulting Ross McLaren at Alloway Gardens on April 19 by repeatedly stabbing him on the body to his severe injury and permanent disfigurement, while on bail.
Sentence was deferred until August 28.
