Buffalo Bill and Captain Scott are the subjects of exhibits being shown for the first time at the McManus in Dundee.
The gallery has welcomed five new works to its latest exhibition, where pieces by Herbert Ponting and SW Pritchard are being shown in A Silvered Light.
Ponting’s photographs capture the extreme conditions and beauty of Captain Scott’s notorious 1910-1913 British Antarctic Expedition.
Lochee-based Pritchard’s portraits show the men who enticed 74,000 Dundonians to Buffalo Bill’s Wild West show in 1904.
A Silvered Light, the first major survey of Scottish fine art photography, will run until the end of the year.
Dundee Lord Provost Bob Duncan said: “Throughout the exhibition period there will be changes to the display, including the introduction of new artists, recent acquisitions to the collection and a schedule of art films.
“Keeping it fresh will maintain a high level of interest and give us a chance to display more interesting and challenging work.”
