Dundee Waterfront has been named as Scotland’s best place in a public poll.
It was one of 10 finalists in a competition run by the town planning association RTPI Scotland in association with the Scottish Government.
More than 3,700 people voted for their favourite on the shortlist and the waterfront took the most votes, beating Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park into second place with the West Highland Way in third.
Other finalists included Edinburgh’s Royal Mile, Merchant City in Glasgow and the Forth and Clyde canal.
The £1 billion redevelopment will create a range of new commercial, leisure and residential facilities and reconnect the city centre with the Tay.
The competition, held to mark RTPI Scotland’s centenary, was aimed at identifying places that have been improved or protected by the planning system since 1914 and have had important social and economic impacts.
