A pair of Dundee design students have achieved national recognition for their innovative design solutions.
For the third consecutive year Interior Environmental Design students from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design (DJCAD) have achieved success at the Royal Society for Arts (RSA) Student Design Awards.
Third year students Magdalena Borzecka and Helen Karwot were tasked with designing and developing a vision and business case for an environment or situation that prompts and fosters creative thinking.
Helen’s ‘PULSE’ proposal was a mobile music workshop for dementia patients, which would assist in improving mobility, enhance problem solving abilities and reduce chronic pain; and the music generated by the patients would stimulate long forgotten memories.
Magdalena’s ‘PlugIn’ concept was a mobile 3D printer lab to support people and communities who lack access to adequate equipment, tools or ‘fab lab’ experiences.
Both Helen and Magdalena jointly won the Royal Bank of Scotland Award for Best Business Case, splitting the £1,000 prize. Magdalena was also commended for Best Design Project.
