Thousands of people flocked to Broughty Ferry for the start of the 83rd gala week.
A firm fixture of the community calendar, the warm weather and spells of sunshine meant activities kicked off in style with the gala day at the Castle Green.
Highlights included the children’s fancy dress competition, pipe band parade, live music, Radio Tay Roadshow, traditional fete games, fresh food from local suppliers, a fire engine, face painting, charity stalls, fairground attractions and, for the grown ups, the beer tent.
Gala committee chairman Gerry Stewart said: “We have even more events than ever, so more people can come along to join in all the fun.Click here for a full photo gallery“We want to see a really large turnout the more people appear, the more money and support the traders can give to local charities.
“We’re looking forward to welcoming lots of Ferry folk and visitors to our gala week.”
The week continues with a busy programme of events including the children’s window guessing competition which this year runs over two weeks and features 74 shop fronts.
