Police are investigating a mass brawl involving 30 people outside a Dundee pub.
The incident took place outside the Douglas Sports and Recreation Club in Balmoral Terrace.
It is understood as many as 30 people were involved in the fracas on Sunday evening.
Resident Carolyn Stewart, 52, witnessed some of the violence.
“I’ve never seen anything like it in my life,” she said. “It was one of the worst things I have ever seen.
“A huge fight broke out between what I think were two separate groups. It went on for about half-an-hour.
“There was blood on the pavement, an older woman was taken away in an ambulance, and I saw at least two other men lying unconscious. Someone could have been killed.
“If someone was on the ground, they would start kicking them in the head.
“There were five or six people on one person, and even the folk trying to break things up were being attacked.”
Carolyn said the brawl quickly spilled out on to the street.
She said: “There were men in suits and girls in dresses, as well as guys in regular clothes.
“I think it started inside and the bar was closed so it carried on outside.
“The police came from all angles, but those who weren’t lying in the street ran off and I’m not sure if they caught anyone.”
A police spokeswoman confirmed officers are investigating the incident, after being called to the scene.
She said: “Police are appealing for witnesses following a large disturbance in Balmoral Terrace, Dundee, at about 11.30pm on Sunday.
“Inquiries into the full circumstances are ongoing and anyone with information that could assist officers with their inquiries is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101.
“Alternatively, information can be passed via the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
A spokeswoman for the Scottish Ambulance Service confirmed it had received a call at 11.30pm, on Sunday, and treated a female who had been assaulted.
A spokeswoman for Douglas Sports and Recreational Club declined to comment when approached.
