John Cooper Clarkes routine delighted the crowd at the Gardyne Theatre.
Super-skinny, shock-haired son of Salford, John Cooper Clarke ambled on to Dundee’s Gardyne Theatre stage to the sound of the Dragnet television show theme tune.
The legendary 64-year-old poet rattled through a gloriously haphazard 90-minute set, flying off at tangents ranging from marine biology to a pitch-black routine on Sir Terry Pratchett.
Poems ranged from a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it Tom Jones to the Bipolar Inmate Diary, delighting the 300-strong crowd.
A breakneck speed version of Evidently Chickentown, featured in the Sopranos and the poet’s personal favourite, closed the set.
