Staff at a Dundee pub have issued a plea for information after a Tayside Mountain Rescue charity collecting tin was stolen from behind the bar.
The incident, reported to have happened on Friday night, took place at the city’s Bank Bar on Union Street.
Angry bar staff took to Facebook to condemn the suspected thief following the incident.
A post on the bar’s page read: “To the thief who thought it was appropriate to steal the Tayside Mountain Rescue Charity Collecting Tin from the bar last night…would you please come in so I can have a chat with you about it…”
Their plea has since been viewed 8,000 times.
Paul Russell, the husband of the bar’s owner, told TheCourier: “The pub was really busy on Friday night and I didn’t notice till Saturdaymorning that the tin was gone.
“I was in the pub on Friday night and no one saw anything. The tin was taken off the bar so it’s been done with intent.
“Customers of The Bank Bar have raised a lot of money for Tayside Mountain Rescue. Tayside Mountain Rescue is the pub’s primary charity. I’m involved with the charity myself.
“There was about £100 in the tin when it was taken. It’s not so much about the money, the disappointing thing is that someone would have the nerve to steal from a charity.
“Everyone has been really disgusted and we’ve received a lot of comments online. The pub doesn’t have CCTV footage though.
“Our Facebook post has been viewed 8,000 times, but I’m not sure if there’s anything else we can do.It’s sad really.”
