Dundee City Council ready to oppose major Monifieth housing expansion
ByAndrew Liddle
A proposed major expansion of Monifieth could severely undermine the Western Gateway project, according to Dundee City Council.
Developer Taylor Wimpey has proposed building between 350 and 400 new homes at The Grange, which sits close to the Angus and Dundee councils boundary.
But Dundee City Council is proposing to send a letter of objection over the project to Angus Council, citing a raft of problems with the development.
And chief among its “issues of concern” are fears that the plans could undermine the new Western Gateway development, which will bring up to 500 houses to a site on the other side of the city.
The report said: “The proposed development is of a scale and in a location that would undermine the delivery of the Western Gateway and regeneration within Dundee.”
