Craig Wallace was assaulted in Ward Road.

A Dundee student suffered a fractured cheek after being attacked in the city’s Ward Road.

Craig Wallace, 20, was walking with a group of friends when three men assaulted him and another man about 4.30am on Friday.

“I was walking along the street and some random guy punched me,” he said.

“I was just meeting people who had been at a house party. I wasn’t drinking myself.”

Craig said the men walked past one group of his friends before going for him.

“They punched me on the face, in the ear, on the mouth and then they stamped on me,” he said.

“They had me on the ground.”

Another 27-year-old who was in the same group as Craig was also assaulted.

Craig said: “I went to uni that day and then went to the hospital. I had three fractures in my cheek and my ear’s throbbing a bit still.”

Police Scotland are appealing for witnesses.

The first suspect is described as being in his late twenties, 5ft 10in tall, of stocky build, with short light brown hair and was wearing a yellow, hooded top.

The second was the same age and height, of stocky build, with shaved brown hair wearing a black jumper with brown patches on the sleeves.

The last man was in his mid thirties, also 5ft 10in, of average build, with short brown hair and wearing a black T-shirt. Craig has said the attack will make him think twice about drinking.

“I’ve just learned that people aren’t always as nice as they could be,” he said.

“I’ve been put off going out in general recently and this has inclined me not to drink. I wasn’t drinking that night myself but some people are more of a hindrance when they do drink.”

Anyone who has any information regarding the assault or who may have been in the Ward Road area at the time should get in touch with Police Scotland on 101.

Alternatively, information can be passed on anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
