Householder shocked by ‘massive crash’ on Broughty Ferry Road

The crash sent large blocks falling down into a garden.
The crash sent large blocks falling down into a garden.

Huge stones were sent cascading on to a garden path after a car crashed into a wall on Broughty Ferry road.

Terrified residents reported hearing a massive crash that shook the whole house when the car hit.

The accident happened just after 9.30 on Saturday morning when the driver of a blue Vauxhall lost control and smashed into the wall.

The male driver of the vehicle escaped unharmed, but the smashed wall flew into the garden below, leaving massive stones just outside the back door of the home.

One resident of the house, who did not wish to be named, said: “I was just relaxing inside the house when I heard a really loud acceleration followed by a massive crash. The whole house shook. But I didn’t realise how serious the crash was until I came out and saw it.”

Luckily no bystanders were hurt in the incident, but the resident suggested it could have ended in tragedy.

“It could have been an awful lot worse. There are massive stones all over the walkway to the back door,” he added.

He is now seeking help from his insurers to have the wall mended as quickly as possible.

Police confirmed that one vehicle was involved in the accident.

Officers attended the scene and sought advice from a council structural engineer who said there was no danger of the wall collapsing further.

The matter is now being resolved by the driver and the residents.
