Three colourful stained glass windows to provide a lasting memorial to the people of Tayside who have donated organs have been unveiled at Ninewells Hospital.

Around 80 family members and friends of loved ones who have donated organs and tissue, transplant recipients, medical and nursing staff, and supporters of organ donation attended the unveiling ceremony at the end of the concourse.

The memorial windows, entitled The Gift, were commissioned by NHS Tayside’s Organ Donation Committee in partnership with local charity REVIVAL to pay tribute to those who have made the gift of organ and tissue donation.

NHS Tayside Endowment Fund provided £6,800 for the design and installation of the stained glass windows, and REVIVAL £3,500 to support the project.

Stained glass artist Liz Rowley was commissioned to design three individual windows which would capture the spirit of organ and tissue donation.

People can register for organ donation at www.organdonation.nhs.uk or call 0300 123 2323.
