Scottish Government to help fund Camperdown Dock gate repairs

A broken dock gate in Dundee is to be repaired almost two years after a dramatic incident in which the Frigate Unicorn dropped to the bottom of the harbour.
Port of Dundee has confirmed it is now applying to the Scottish Government to carry out repair work to the gate and surrounding walls at Camperdown Dock.
A spokeswoman said the work is estimated to cost £80,000 and should start soon.
Due to a technical failure in February 2013, the dock sea gate could not be fully closed, with water rushing through it from Victoria Dock into the River Tay.
The leak meant that as the dock emptied, the 191-year-old Unicorn and the 80-year-old North Carr lightship fell about eight feet and came to rest on the muddy harbour floor.
