Almost £8 million-worth of housing improvement contracts could be awarded to two local employers.
McGill Electrical and Dundee City Council’s environment department construction services division stand to share in the heating, kitchens, bathroom and render improvement work.
Jimmy Black, convener of Dundee City Council’s housing committee said: “As a result of our partnering agreement for construction projects and the council’s tendering procedures, we are happy to be able to recommend these two organisations for this work.
“The improvements will benefit tenants all over the city, as well as keeping local tradesmen in work.”
Work on 12 contracts totalling £7.9m will be discussed by the city council’s housing committee on Monday.
Meanwhile, Dundee Council is to get £1.5m to help families into new social homes.
It is part of a total funding package across Scotland of an extra £40m for housing, expected to deliver around 1,000 homes over the next two years, mainly for social rent and support up to 700 jobs in construction and related sectors.
