Police are hunting a knife-wielding man who injured a shopkeeper while trying to rob a Dundee newsagents.

The man fought with the male member of staff at Granville’s in Hospital Street, leaving him with what police described as a pinprick wound to the abdomen.

No hospital treatment was needed.

The would-be robber then fled when a customer came in.

The incident at the shop, which is close to Kings Cross Hospital, happened around 8.30am on Sunday.

A police spokesman said: “The male responsible presented a knife at, and demanded property from, a staff member and then fought with the staff member before leaving without any items.”

The suspect has glasses, is aged in his late twenties and is around 5ft 7in and heavily built.

He wore a black and white hooded top, dark bottoms and white trainers.
