Two Ninewells Hospital wards close as two others reopen
ByThe Courier Reporter
Two wards at Ninewells hospital have reopened but another two have closed to new admissions because of the winter vomiting bug.
Wards 16 and 17 Ninewells are taking new patients again after being closed because of several cases of norovirus.
The wards were closed to new patients as a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of the virus.
The problem has now transferred to wards 31 and 33.
NHS Tayside said these wards have been closed to new patients, and infection control measures have been put in place.
Winter vomiting is very common at this time of year in the wider community.
To help minimise the spread of these bugs, NHS Tayside asks people who may be feeling unwell or experiencing vomiting and diarrhoea not to visit their friends and family members who are in hospital.
They should stay away until at least 48 hours after they are free of all symptoms.
