Firefighters had to use cutting gear to free two young girls from their car in Broughty Ferry at the weekend.
Their family’s Ford Galaxy was involved in collision with a Ford Escort at the junction of Abertay Street and Panmure Terrace on Saturday. Nobody was seriously injured.
The accident happened around 11am and forced the closure of the street while the emergency services dealt with the incident.
The family in the Galaxy was Linda Carver, of Monifieth, her daughter Abbie and her granddaughters Ellie (4) and Hannah (3).
Mrs Carver’s husband Peter was alerted to the crash by a call from Abbie.
He said: ”My daughter called me to say could you come to Abertay Street, there’s been an accident.”
The British Red Cross volunteer arrived to find the car badly damaged and sitting across the road after the collision.
”My wife said the car went on its side but she managed to right it and control it. Hannah has a lump on her head and my other granddaughter is fine. My wife is really shocked.
”They were lucky to walk away from that,” Mr Carver added.
The rear doors of the car were jammed, so firefighters used cutting gear to remove one of them to get the girls out.
The family were taken to Ninewells Hospital for checks.
The driver of the other car was treated at the scene.
