Dundee FC goalkeeper Rab Douglas is to stand trial accused of driving while using a mobile phone.
Douglas, who at 40 is set to star for the club in the new SPL season after they took the place of Rangers, is accused of driving on Dundee’s Kingsway on January 28 while using the device.
The keeper wore a smart suit as he appeared at the city’s JP court on Wednesday to deny the charge.
Solicitor John Boyle told a brief pre-trial hearing that his client was maintaining his not guilty plea. The case was set down for trial next month.
Douglas started his career at Meadowbank Thistle before they were rebranded as Livingston, before moving to Dundee in 1997.
He made 119 appearances for the Dark Blues before switching to Celtic in 2000.
During his time at Parkhead, he became a regular fixture in the Scotland national side.
Following spells at Leicester City, Milwall, Wycombe Wanderers and Plymouth Argyle, he returned to Dens Park in 2008.
He has played a further 122 games for Dundee since then.
