Steven Hampson became wedged under the 11 and a half foot high bridge in Dunfermline after driving his 13 foot high lorry straight under it. The 43-year-old became an internet sensation when the dramatic incident was caught on camera by a following driver. Hampson, of Manse Place, Inverkeithing, pleaded guilty to careless driving when he appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court. He said after the incident: “I never thought for a moment it wouldn’t fit.” Sheriff Charlie Macnair pointed out: “But there’s a big sign that says how high the bridge is.” Hampson was fined £265.
