The public are being warned to stay away from the “dangerous” site of Caldwell’s paper mill as police launch an investigation into the cause of yet another major fire at the disused Inverkeithing factory.
Six Fife Fire and Rescue Service appliances from Dunfermline, Lochgelly, Burntisland and Kirkcaldy tackled the blaze, which broke out at the mill late on Saturday evening.
Community sergeant Jonathan Peebles appealed for help from the public as the inquiry got under way into what he called another “significant fire” at the site.
He added that the fire took considerable resources from Fife Fire and Rescue Service to bring it under control.
“The cause of the fire is under investigation and I appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time or who may have information regarding the fire to contact Fife police,” he said.
The mill, parts of which are in a perilous state, has been a repeated target for vandalism since it shut eight years ago.
Fife Constabulary confirmed they are continuing to work jointly with Fife Council and the site owners to ensure the ongoing security and safety of the mill.
The police can be contacted on 0845 600 5702 or information can be passed anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
