Police have carried out door-to-door inquiries as they hunt for a man who is alleged to have sexually assaulted a student in St Andrews at the weekend.
The victim told police she was attacked at around 2.30am on Sunday in the grounds of University Hall, in Kennedy Gardens, as she walked back to her flat. She was uninjured but shaken.
Fife Constabulary is seeking witnesses who may have seen a male hanging around in the area of the halls of residence. Although it was the early hours of the morning a university event had been held nearby and many students would have been returning home at the time.
It appears the male responsible ran from the driveway leading to Wardlaw Hall on to Kennedy Gardens.
A spokesman for St Andrews University said, “This is a very rare occurrence for St Andrews.
“We are very pleased the victim was not injured and we are working closely with Fife Police in their efforts to track the alleged attacker.”
