Leuchars van driver drove while four times drink limit

A Leuchars man who drove while four times the legal alcohol limit has been banned from the road for four years at Dundee Sheriff Court.

Patrick Verma (41), of Warwick Close, was also sentenced to a 12-month community payback order and ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid work.

Verma had admitted driving a van in Dura Street, Forfar Road and Pitkerro Road, Dundee, with a reading of 140 mic of alcohol in 100 ml of breath the legal limit being 35 mic on June 28.

An agent for Verma told the court the reading had been “very high” and his client was “very remorseful.”

Sheriff Alistair Duff told Verma, “This is a very serious charge.”
