Man scared to leave home after Buckhaven stabbing

A Buckhaven man is frightened to leave his home after being stabbed three times by a masked assailant.

Jamie Hogg was attacked in Martin Street in the early hours of Saturday morning as he returned from visiting his baby son.

The culprit, who wore a balaclava, attempted to stab the fishery worker in the chest but missed, before repeatedly sinking the blade into Mr Hogg’s upper leg.

The 23-year-old says he has no idea why he was targeted but claims that he was followed by a black Vauxhall Astra before the attack.

“Every time I stopped, it would stop too,” he said.

“I got into a car park and started to run back to my house when a man with his face covered and wearing a black jacket came from my left.

“He tried to stab me in the chest but missed and stabbed my t-shirt.

“I tried to run but he stabbed me in the upper thigh three times.

“It was really painful, there was lots of blood.”

Mr Hogg was taken to the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy to receive treatment for his wounds, one of which he claims narrowly missed an artery.

He has trouble walking and says he is now scared to leave his home.

“I feel lucky to be alive,” he added.

A Police Scotland spokesperson confirmed that an investigation had been launched and appealed for anybody with information to come forward.
