Three-year-old boy dies after being swept off sea wall at Kirkcaldy Esplanade

A three-year-old boy has died after being swept off the sea wall at Kirkcaldy.
Fife Police say they were alerted at around 3.25pm on Saturday.
The coastguard, police, ambulance and fire and rescue service all responded to reports that the child had been swept into the water at the Esplanade.
He was recovered from the water but died at around 5pm in Victoria Hospital. His family were by his side.
Supt Dougie Milton, who is leading the investigation, appealed for anyone who was in the area at the time and saw the boy and his family to phone Fife Police on 0845 600 5702.For the latest on this tragic story see Monday’s Courier.
