‘We just want to know where our son is’ Allan Bryant’s mum fears worst

The mother of missing Glenrothes man Allan Bryant today made an emotional appeal for anyone who knows of his whereabouts to get in touch with police.

Marie Degan made it clear she now fears the worst as the search for her son whose 24th birthday is on Saturday approaches its fourth week.

At a media briefing in Glenrothes Police Station, Marie said she feared he may have come to harm.

She said: “I would just like to say it’s going to be my son’s birthday tomorrow. He’s going to be 24 and he’s never been away from us for longer than two nights.

“This is just terrible. If somebody knows someone who has been acting strange … please phone anonymously or anything.

“Any bit of information at all … we just want to know where our son is, what’s happened. We just want to know anything at all. I miss him so much and I just want him back.”

Allan, from Glenrothes, was in high spirits and looking forward to a friend’s wedding when he was last seen outside Styx nightclub in the town at around 3am on Sunday November 3.

Despite an extensive air and ground search by police and a country-wide missing poster campaign, there has been no trace of him.

Police say there is no evidence to suggest there has been foul play.

Chief Inspector Derek McEwan, local area commander for the Glenrothes area, said an unprecedented amount of police resources had been thrown at the investigation.

However, he confirmed it remained a “mystery” and renewed appeals for anyone with information to contact police on 101.
